Is there a better time of year than Springtime to get out and ride the backroads and admire all the things that represent American culture and history?

If one likes to admire old barns, rolling hillsides, and American Flags - Lincoln County and Giles County, Tennessee are two great places to wander the backroads and explore.

Here's one interesting tidbit about Tennessee. Giles County borders Lincoln County to its east. Both counties have a two lane county road called Chicken Creek Road. and no it is not the same road running into both counties.
And I am guessing that both counties have a creek there called Chicken Creek. But the part about the creeks is just my guess. If you have other ideas or any comments, there is a place for comments at the bottom of this page.
At the Fayetteville - Lincoln County Museum in Fayetteville, Tennessee. The museum is surprising large and very educational/entertaining for a museum hidden in a small city.

This broom making tool is clearly very old. And it is just unique. I am guessing that the operator turned the flat wheel at the top right and that turned a broom to allow the wire to be wrapped around to bind the straw. But that is just my guess. If you have other ideas or any comments, there is a place for comments at the bottom of this page.
Notice that the legs on the device are parts of a small tree and still have the bark attached.

Above is a photo of the cemetery at Mt. Moriah Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Giles County, Tennessee. The church was founded in 1810.

An old barn at the entrance to the Big Creek Winery in Pulaski, Tennessee. Notice the flag under the shed.

Farmers in southern middle Tennessee are busy in June rolling hay for their livestock.

Campbellsville Road runs north through Giles County and threads through beautiful southern farm country.

This Giles County fire hydrant stands in a hayfield and is showing off some new paint.
Southern Middle Tennessee is simply a pretty place. If one wants to take a camera and photograph some Americana, this is a great place to start. If a photographer has breakfast in Pulaski and then wanders north for lunch at the Mount Pleasant Grille in the small berg of Mount Pleasant, that photographer will be struck with the feeling of being in the heart of American country living, southern charm, and scenic Americana.
The history and culture of America are still visible in 2025 for those who will take notice as they move around our country. You just just have to take time to look and think about what you are seeing.
And remember that comments are welcomed here in the box at the bottom of this page. I really like reading those comments. You can ask questions there as well. I will try hard to give you a good answer.
Also note that if you hit that "Log In" button at the top of this page and become a member of Picture Americana, you will get an email notification whenever a new blog is posted. I really appreciate people becoming members.
